Grief is difficult at any time, and most especially around the holidays. We’ve written about this previously, and in that post you’ll find some good links for getting through this tough time of year.
Often people who have lost siblings feel a little left out. There are many support groups for widows and widowers, or for those who have lost children. But for many, losing a sibling leaves a special hole in their heart. Bereaved siblings often feel misunderstood by those around them, and consequently, may tend to keep quiet about their grief.
In Camarillo, California, there is a special spin-off group of Compassionate Friends that is especially for those who have lost siblings. Members need only be 14 and above, and the group includes adults. You can read more about it here. The facilitators are Paula Steele and Keren Zaks, and their contact number is 805-212-8311.
For more resources of grief, please try Widowsbond.com and the Soaring Spirits Life Foundation resource page, as well as Compassionate Friends. In Simi Valley and Moorpark, we also have a Grief Recovery group run by Chaplain Ron Hyrchuk at several locations. His contact number is 805-955-6225.

Hey 2 months ago my brother died at my house due to a morphine overdose. I’m 18 and he was 21. I need help or someone to talk to and email me. I want to know that what I’m feeling is normal. Help.
Hi Morgan. Just now saw your comment. If you’re in the Simi Valley area you can contact our office. If not, do a quick Google on grief counseling for your area, and I’m sure you’ll find someone. Talk to someone in person if at all possible. Hope this helps.
