Research summary on effects of divorce on children

The Family Research Council has a very sobering article online from 2012 that surveys the research about the various effects of divorce on children. It is definitely worth a read. You can go directly to the post at www.tiny.cc/childrenofdivorce . The article just reinforces what we already know, that divorce is something to be avoided whenever possible, and that any efforts toward avoiding it and improving the marriage can pay off for generations to come.

My next post will be on what couples can expect when they come for marriage counseling.  My hope is that it will take away some of the fear that some couples have.  Coming to marriage counseling doesn’t necessarily mean that your relationship is in deep trouble.  It means that you’re ready to change some patterns and learn new skills.
