It seems that I hear from more and more teens who have great difficulty falling asleep until 1, 2 or 3 am in the morning, which of course then disrupts their school attendance and performance. I ask them all the obvious questions. How’s your diet, especially regarding sugar and caffeine? Do you get some regular cardio exercise every day? What is your routine in the evening? Lately, even if all the other areas are pretty good, that late night routine is problematic. TV, computers, gaming, texting and all of the other ways we interact with screens that shine light in our faces (and eyes) may be a big contributor to having trouble falling alseep at night.
