Widowhood and the holidays

Grieving the loss of a loved one, especially a spouse, is never easy.  This time of year is often the hardest, and it’s easy to believe that you are all alone.  Widow’s Voice is a wonderful blog that will help a lot with that feeling of being alone.  Started by Michele Hernandez  after the sudden death of her husband, Phil, in 2005, Widow’s Voice has grown from a blog to a community, called Widowed Village.  Widowed Village is a Facebook-style sort of community that provides a place for widowed men and women to talk online.  There is so much support there; go and see for yourself.  You aren’t alone, and sometimes knowing that can make just enough difference.

You can find the Widow’s Voice blog here, and support the Soaring Spirits Loss foundation by visiting here.

Thanks so much Deborah for sharing information about Soaring Spirits, and the ways in which we provide support for widowed people. As you note, the holidays can be a particularly difficult time for anyone grieving the loss of someone they love. While there is no “cure” for this kind of pain, there is definitely comfort in knowing you are not alone and in having a community to support you through the ups and downs of grief recovery. We appreciate the insights shared in your newsletter, and always look forward to the next edition!
